- Character Development: A special emphasis is placed on moral and civic development, with motivational talks by mentors, and informal sharing within groups. Parents of enrolled students are required to volunteer at the center where their child is enrolled. Parents may help with the lunch program, with facilities maintenance, in the classroom and in other areas. They are to act as role models to their children for civic involvement. Older students, especially those in vocational training and university studies are expected to return regularly to the center they attended and interact and role model for the younger children as part of their volunteer requirement necessary for scholarship support.
- Culture: Art, handicraft, music and performing arts classes are offered at all centers. Classes focus on preserving and encouraging the pursuit of local folk art types so that the children gain an appreciation for the richness of their Nicaraguan cultural heritage.
- Health Services: Fabretto is continuously monitoring the health and growth of all its children. We ensure that our students are receiving their basic immunizations and provide basic health and hygiene education services to our students and their families.
- Lunch Program: For many students and parents, the lunch program is the initial attraction to participation in the Fabretto program. The opportunity to have a warm, balanced and nutritious meal at least once a day is a tremendous incentive for families to keep their children enrolled in the program, thereby keeping them in school. This is because for many of our students, this lunch is their only substantial meal of the day.
- Sports: Opportunities for involvement in athletic programs are available at all our centers. The sports offerings are designed not only to entertain, teach team building, and improve their sporting skills, but as an additional component of our health program, ensuring that students understand that physical activity is a critical component of overall health. Students can play soccer, basketball, baseball and volleyball during both structured and free time at the centers as well as participate on center teams that compete against other local teams.
- Study Hall: Tutoring helps to reinforce lessons learned in the daily classes. Tutors emphasize math, science, Spanish and social studies. Teachers from the school district run this program and also staff it with high school seniors who volunteer.
