Sponsorship Program Information

Thank you for your interest in the Fabretto Sponsorship Program. Becoming a sponsor is a unique way to change a child’s life by giving him or her access to the education needed to overcome poverty. Your sponsorship is also important to Fabretto. It ensures that once we start a child down the path to self-sufficiency, we will be able to offer that child educational opportunities until he or she becomes a responsible, productive adult.

Sponsor a Child – For $30 per month, your sponsorship will enable a primary or secondary school child to go to school, stay in school and succeed in school by ensuring that he or she has enough food to eat, school uniforms and supplies, and access to all of our half day after-school activities, including tutoring, mentoring, study hall, sports, arts, music, life skills training, and job skills training. We ask that you commit to sponsoring a child until his or her academic career is completed – usually at graduation from high school. Depending upon the age of your child, this could be as much as a thirteen-year commitment.

• Select a child for sponsorship.
• Fill out our online Sponsorship Enrollment form.
• Fabretto will send you Thank You letter as soon as it is written by your child, and at that time we will provide you with information about how you can write back.
• You can establish a pattern of mutual correspondence with your child,and Fabretto will also send you an annual update of his or her academic progress.
• Fabretto will send you a cumulative donation acknowledgment for tax purposes at the end of the year for your records.

Funding Your Sponsorship
Fabretto accepts payment for sponsorships through monthly Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) from a checking or savings account, and by Visa or MasterCard (on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis). We encourage you to consider monthly EFT, because unlike credit card payments, there is no associated processing fee - ensuring that all of your contribution will go to program support . Communicating with Fabretto and Your Child
In an effort to reduce costs and facilitate communication, all updates about your child, routine communication with Fabretto, program updates and correspondence between sponsors and children will be via e-mail only. You can choose to receive and send correspondence in Spanish, or if you prefer, our Volunteer Translation Team will translate it for you.  We will review all messages and letters for appropriate content, and will ensure that they are delivered to the sponsor and child.

Replacement of Students Who Leave the Program
From time to time, students drop out of our program for various reasons.  Should a sponsored child student leave the program, you will be notified as soon as possible and a new child or student will be assigned to you.

Visiting Your Child
Sponsors travelling to Nicaragua are welcome to arrange a meeting with their sponsored child through our Program Coordinator.  Managua is only a 2½ hour flight from Miami and Houston, making it a practical and manageable trip.

Sponsor Commitment
We ask that Sponsors commit to sponsorship until the completion of high school.

Termination
Sponsors may terminate their Sponsorship at any time. Please notify Fabretto in writing (by mail, fax or e-mail) if you wish to cancel your participation in the Sponsorship Program.

Receipts/Acknowledgements
An annual receipt of cumulative sponsorship donations will be issued to donors for tax and recordkeeping purposes.
