Sponsorship is the Way to Change a Child's Life

You can change a child’s life by becoming a Fabretto sponsor. You will make it possible for your sponsored child to stay in school and get the education he or she needs to lead a life free from poverty and hunger.

The Need
Due to extreme poverty, many Nicaraguan children forfeit their education and an ultimate chance for a decent life because they must drop out of school to beg on the streets, stay home to take care of younger siblings, or work to help support their family. In many cases, they also drop out because their parents simply cannot afford the uniforms and supplies necessary to send them to school.  Our Sponsorship Program ensures educational opportunities for the children and the chance for our donors to establish a one on one relationship with an individual student.

Rewards of Sponsorship
In Spanish, the children call their sponsors "Padrino" or "Madrina" – or literally, godfather and godmother. They view their sponsors not only as someone giving them financial support to pursue their education, but as a member of their family and as an adult who cares deeply about their physical and emotional wellbeing.

At least once a year, we will send you an email update or message from your “godchild” so that you can see how your sponsorship is impacting his or her life. You can choose to get your communications in English or Spanish.  Corresponding with your child will be one of the most rewarding aspects of your sponsorship – for both you and your child. The more you respond, the more emails you will receive from your child. The children are immensely grateful and their letters reflect these feelings and are wonderfully touching. They know and understand that having a sponsor is a guarantee that they can continue to participate in all the Fabretto programs and with their schooling. 

How To Sign Up
Becoming a Sponsor is a fast and easy three step process.  You've just done step 1!  Follow the links below for Steps 2 and 3.

Step 2/Select A Child: For a Child Sponsorship - click here to select one of the children we have profiled online OR to sponsor a university scholarship student, ask our Program Coordinator Joanne Mazzella for the available profiles, click here to email her.

Step 3/Enroll Now!: Fill out our online Sponsorship Enrollment Form.  Be prepared to select your donation method and frequency of payment.
