Sponsorship is the Way to Change a Child's Life

You can change a child’s life by becoming a Fabretto sponsor. You will make it possible for your sponsored child to stay in school and get the education he or she needs to lead a life free from poverty and hunger.

The Need
Due to extreme poverty, many Nicaraguan children forfeit their education and an ultimate chance for a decent life because they must drop out of school to beg on the streets, stay home to take care of younger siblings, or work to help support their family. In many cases, they also drop out because their parents simply cannot afford the uniforms and supplies necessary to send them to school.  Our Sponsorship Program ensures educational opportunities for the children and the chance for our donors to establish a one on one relationship with an individual student.

Rewards of Sponsorship
In Spanish, the children call their sponsors "Padrino" or "Madrina" – or literally, Godfather and Godmother. They view their sponsors as a member of their family and as an adult who cares deeply about their physical and emotional wellbeing. Being sponsored truly motivates a child to work harder in school and to continue actively participating in our program.

You will receive letters from your “Godchild” so that you can see how your sponsorship is impacting his or her life. You can choose to get your communications in English or Spanish.  Corresponding with your child will be one of the most rewarding aspects of your sponsorship – for both you and your child. The more you respond, the more letters you will receive. The children are immensely grateful and their letters reflect these feelings and are wonderfully touching. We will also send you an annual report of academic progress so you can see how your child is doing in school. 

How To Sign Up
Becoming a Sponsor is a fast and easy three step process.  You've just done step 1!  Follow the links below for Steps 2 and 3.

Step 2/Select A Child: Click here to select one of the children we have profiled online, or if you have an age or grade level in mind or a child with particular interests that you don't see, contact Program Coordinator Marcela Perez for  information about other children; email her.

Step 3/Enroll Now!: Fill out our online Sponsorship Enrollment Form.  Be prepared to select your donation method and frequency.  As noted, you'll be making only your first contribution through our website, and will be contacted for your ongoing funding information.
