Roadmonkey Adventure Philanthropy

Donate to the Playground!

After 4 days of surfing near San Juan del Sur in southern Nicaragua, on March 10, volunteers traveling with   will arrive at the Fabretto center in Cusmapa to build a playground.

Roadmonkey, a company launched by a former New York Times reporter last year, combines physical adventures with meaningful volunteer work. The company, based in New York, guides its clients to off-the-beaten-path destinations, in hopes of creating a more authentic and personal travel and volunteer experience than other traditional tour operators can offer.

In Cusmapa, the Roadmonkey volunteer group will spend three days constructing a playground for the more than 450 students enrolled at the Fabretto center. Roadmonkey is unique in that it asks its clients to raise the money for their volunteer projects from their own social networks. Contributions made to a playground fund administered by Fabretto will buy the materials for the playground. The 9-day Nicaragua Expedition  is the company’s first foray into Latin America. The trip is open to anyone, Fabretto donor or not, and spaces are still available.  Trip details are available on the Roadmonkey website and reservations should be made through Roadmonkey, not Fabretto!

If you would like to support a trip participant by making a donation to help with the construction of the playground, please make an online donation by Clicking Here.  Note that when you make your gift, you can identify which participant you are supporting.  After you have completed your online contribution, you can also send him or her a notice of your gift with our Give And Tell E-Cards.
