Computer Training
Each of our six Fabretto centers boasts an internet connected computer lab. Amazingly, even at the most remote center, Quebrada Honda, internet is available through a satellite connection. In addition, we have installed solar powered computer stations at a number of isolated rural elementary schools. Our goal is to give as many students as possible the opportunity to acquire basic computing skills.
The Program
The focus for younger students is on developing keyboarding skills and teaching them to manage basic data and become familiar with the internet and basic desktop applications. Meanwhile, our middle and high school students are learning more sophisticated applications such as Introduction to Informatics, Windows XP, and Office XP. These classes are designed to broaden the students’ skill base and provide further job opportunities once they graduate.
It is a fact that now, more than ever, third world societies require skilled workers in order to attract foreign investment to help develop their local economies. This is especially true in Nicaragua, where an ever growing demand for IT trained personnel is being felt in every sector of the economy. Fabretto is working diligently to give students the opportunity to partake in this growing job market.
